Algarve has won the 2019 World Travel Awards ‘Europe’s leading beach destination’ for the sixth year making it the only destination to win it so many times.

The Algarve is home to over a 130 beaches; 88 of which are blue flag beaches.
The coast line stretches out over 200 km and offers visitors: coves, cliffs, caves, rocky beaches and sand beaches.

The calm waters of the east coast beaches of Barril, Tavira, Manta Rota and Altura are perfect for families and are manned by lifeguards while the vast sandy beaches of the central coastline are also popular including Rocha Baixinha, Vale do Lobo, Garrão, Ancão and Quinta do Lago. Beaches found along the Algarve’s west coast number some of the most scenic and alluring in the country and offer fantastic surfing opportunities. Martinhal beach is also particularly renowned, for being perfect for families.
