Porto Taylor’s Wine Cellar – visit and wine tasting .
Port Wine is one of the great classic European wines and its history is a long and fascinating one. Visit Taylor’s wine cellars and learn about one of its oldest and most famous producer’s, the Douro Valley and the house of Taylor’s. Since its foundation in 1692 by Job Bearsley, the company has remained independent. Now well into its fourth century, it has thrived and prospered, establishing itself as one of the world’s most respected historic wine houses. The Douro Valley, birthplace of Port, is one of the oldest and most beautiful of the historic European wine regions. Wine has been made there for two thousand years. In 1756 the Douro Valley became the first classic wine region to be legally demarcated. Its vineyards were comprehensively classified the following year, almost a century before those of Bordeaux.
